In recent years winemakers have been making huge investments in Tupungato to take advantage of the sky-high altitude.\u00a0 Twenty years ago, before all the big names, it was Jean Bousquet that had the vision to plant vines in Gualtallary Valley in the Tupungato district near the Chile border of Argentina.\u00a0 Today\u00a0Domaine Bousquet<\/a>\u00a0is one of the best and largest producer of organic wines in the region.<\/p>\n

Taking over the reigns from her father, Anne Bousquet is CEO and Co-Owner of\u00a0Domaine Bousquet, she along with her husband Labid al Ameri run the winery. Anne Bousquet grew up in a winemaking family and had always had hands on experience in winemaking from the young age of 10.\u00a0 In 2009 Anne and Labid moved to Tupungato and two years later Jean retired. Anne Bousquet & Labid al Ameri have made a huge commitment to organic agriculture, and to improve the biodiversity of their land. At Domaine Bousquet, they consider that the healthier the vineyard, the better the quality of the grapes and, therefore, the wine.\u00a0 The belief is that when the vines are grown organically they tend to penetrate deeper into the soil, and deliver more authentic flavors of the terroir. Made with organic grapes from different regions of Valle de Uco and own vineyards located in Alto Gualtallary, Tupungato at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level, one of the highest in Mendoza.<\/p>\n

This refreshing 100% Sauvignon Blanc is light yellow in hue.\u00a0 Nice aromatics of lime and apple.\u00a0 Perfect for summer sipping with its fresh crisp acidity.\u00a0 The wine will pair well with a light summer salad or grilled fish.<\/p>\n

Domaine Bousquet Ros\u00e9 2019 (SRP $13.00)<\/a><\/p>\n

Summer is the season to drink pink and clean.\u00a0 The Domaine Bousquet Ros\u00e9 gets you into the season with its gorgeous pale pink hue.\u00a0 The organic grapes are a blend is 50% Pinot Noir, 30% Tempranillo, 10% Pinot Gris, and 10% Viognier.\u00a0 The nose reminds you of a summer garden, with hints of strawberry, lemon, and floral notes.\u00a0 Crisp, clean and balanced on the finish.<\/p>\n

This is a versatile and food friendly ros\u00e9.\u00a0 It will pair great with barbecue pork,\u00a0 hamburgers, pasta salads, charcuterie and a festive cheese board.<\/p>\n

Domaine Bousquet Virgen Organic Red Blend 2018 (SRP $13.00)<\/a><\/p>\n

This is Domaine Bousquet\u2019s first natural wine, with no sulfites added, made with USDA-certified organic red grapes. The Virgen 2018 is a new level of dedication, the purest expression to date of the winery\u2019s Tupungato, Uco Valley terroir.<\/p>\n

Virgen is a blend of 35% Malbec, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc.\u00a0 The wine has a deep rich violet hue with notes of blackberries, raspberries and spice.\u00a0 The medium bodied palate leaves you with a long fruity finish.<\/p>\n

During the summer months, I love to drink natural wines.\u00a0 They are light, clean and fresh.\u00a0 The Virgen is great for\u00a0 summer barbecues and for entertaining.\u00a0 \u00a0The beautiful label is a great conversation starter.\u00a0 Pair it with roasted pork or hamburgers.\u00a0 Serve just slightly chilled.<\/p>\n
